Some of the major learning points for me in this module over the last three weeks have been the concept of the value-creation process, the power of micro-influencers, and the idea that information is constantly changing and requires an element of community sourcing and multiple authorship through the likes of Wikipedia. Words like sub-community, interconnection and mutual learning, for me, have been in my mind throughout the DigiLife modules so far.
These insights have been very timely and helped me further appreciate and develop my understanding of blogs for this assignment. It was my first time setting up a WordPress blog, and it took quite a lot of time and readjusting, especially with regards to setting up the pages properly.
Now that it’s set up, though, I feel like blogging can be straightforward and worthwhile. It’s especially interesting to me in light of another module I’m doing where we’re currently reading and writing opinion columns. This assignment has encouraged me to read more blogs, become more in tune with the crafting of opinion pieces, and has got me thinking critically about my own writing skills.
