Rationale for My ‘Reinvented’ Privacy Policy for Pinterest

In truth, Pinterest has endeavoured to ‘explain things in a simple and clear way’ in their privacy policy. However, it is nonetheless a lengthy document. I came across a useful article entitled ‘How to Read a Privacy Policy’ (Becerra) which led me to formulate what I believe to be 8 key questions regarding the collection and use of one’s information online. My questions are straightforward and the answers are intended to be informative without being superfluous. I avoid the repetition which is present in the original document. There are substantial subsections in Pinterest’s privacy policy which relate to EEA residents and California residents respectively. Apart from one reference to the former in my reinvented policy, I have omitted the details of these subsections and retained only the most salient information, which is relevant to all Pinterest consumers, in this user-friendly version.
